Where the Sun learns to rest

I arrive loudly

dripping in gold

crowned in heat

trailing with fire

I kiss the ocean’s edge

.and watch it flinch

But the kelp

the kelp doesn’t pull away

Instead, it parts

fronds lifting like limbs

in an earthly invitation

Greens layered of every shade

olive, jade, ink, chartreuse

a thousand welcomes

rising from the deep

just to meet me

I dive in

pour down its spine

in rivulets of amber

Oh the embrace of that emerald hue

not loud

not showing

but rich in steadiness

The kelp unwraps my blaze

and threads it through its leaves

letting me dance on its skin

Yet it never folds beneath me

never begs for more or less

It just sways

so sure of its place

That I found mine beside it

The kelp wraps my essence in cool arms

 and says nothing

because nothing is needed

And in that silence

The tide moves through us both

gold curling through green

light and frond

swaying in the same breath

I stay

suspended

scattered

remade in her stillness

A light without pressure

Color without reason

A sun

that finally

feels held

~ my deep, green cathedral
